When is the best time to visit Greece?

The east coast is sheltered towards the mainland, the water there calm and shallow. Kefalonia and Lefkada work too, but require more planning and a rental car; excursions there involve more effort. Thessaloniki and Halkidiki work for families with older children, especially if you want to combine city and beach.
